Our Raffle is now underway and books are being sent to Islanders who have used the service. The prizes are great with a first one of £500, a pearl necklace from Jersey Pearl, some ear rings from Catherine Best. Other prizes include a litre of ice-cream each week for a year from Jersey Dairy, a case of champagne from the Channel Islands Co-op, a case of wine from Technicare, meals at various hotels and restuarnts and more as time goes on. The tickets are £5 a book or £1 each.
In our year to the end of September, 2008 usage increased by about 26% which for our third year and fourth summer seems to be amazing. The credit crunch may well reduce the number of people coming here for their holidays and that will affect our income substantially. The use by locals is increasing steadily and we have a number of Very Regular regulars. Our income including all fund raising increased by about £300 in the year which was excellent considering we did not receive money from the Itex-Rotary Round the Island Walk and our Dress Down Day in April brought in much less than last year.
Kerry, Sue, Alan and Angela help in the office taking turns so we are covered every day we are open. The 4 weeks to Christmas will entail opening on Thursday evenings and Sundays but only if equipment is pre-booked.
Kerry and Sue are being very successful at car boot sales and if anyone has goods we can sell then please ring Sand Street during our normal hours and we can collect.
